-
Hey! I'm Rachel from ezylegal. What's going on?
-
Who are you dealing with? A person, a sole trader or a company?
-
What was agreed, and what happened?
-
What have you asked for since, and what do you want now?
Have these ready
Three things. The more detail and evidence you give, the better the letter.
Their name
The person or business, and any address or email you have for them. The letter is addressed to them, so get the name right.
What happened
What was agreed, what was paid or delivered, what wasn't, what you've asked for since, and what you want now.
All your evidence
Invoices, quotes, contracts, receipts, bank records, messages, emails, photos. Whatever shows what was agreed and what actually happened.
If you only have some of it, give Rachel what you have.
$100, GST included.
Questions people ask first
What does $100 cover?
Your Letter of Demand, built from your answers and your evidence, on ezylegal letterhead. If you have their email address, we email it to them from rachel@ezylegal.com.au, and you get a copy. If you don't, you can download it and post it. You can ask for up to three changes before it goes. $100, GST included, is the whole price. If we can't prepare your letter, you pay nothing.
Does a lawyer look at my letter?
No. Your letter is designed by a lawyer and built automatically from your answers and your evidence. No lawyer writes, reads or reviews your letter, and it isn't legal advice. It's an automated document service from ezylegal Technology Pty Ltd, which is not a law firm. If you want a lawyer to look at where you stand, that's a separate service. A licensed Australian law practice on the ezylegal network provides it, and it isn't part of the $100 letter.
What's in the letter?
Who it's addressed to. What you're asking for, whether that's an amount or something done. Why, based on what you told Rachel and what you attached. A date to respond by. And what you intend to do if they don't. It comes to you on ezylegal letterhead, and we email it to them for you. The sample at the top of this page shows the shape.
Do you send it for me?
Yes, by email. We email it to the other party from rachel@ezylegal.com.au, and you get a copy. You decide when it goes. If you only have a postal address for them, download your letter and post it.
What should I give Rachel?
Everything. The name of the person or business, what happened in your own words, and all your evidence: invoices, quotes, contracts, receipts, bank records, messages, emails, photos. A letter built from a full picture reads very differently from one built from a sentence. Rachel gathers what you give her. She doesn't give legal advice.
Who is it for?
Anyone in Australia with a claim they want put in writing. An unpaid invoice, a bond, a deposit, a loan to a friend, an unfinished job, a refund refused. It can go to a person, a sole trader or a company. Any size claim.
What if they ignore it?
A Letter of Demand isn't a court order, so on its own it can't make anyone do anything. What happens next is your call. It's usually the step people take before a tribunal or court claim, and it gives you a written record if you go that way. If you want legal help at that point, that's a separate service on the ezylegal network.
Get it in writing. $100.
